6G-XR Showcases Next-Generation XR Technologies at 6G Symposium

The 6G Symposium, a pivotal gathering in the realm of telecommunications, witnessed a groundbreaking display of next-generation XR (Extended Reality) technologies in which 6G-XR showcased its technology. Held in Levi, Finland, from 9-11 April 2024, the symposium convened experts and stakeholders to chart the course for the forthcoming 6G era.

Throughout the symposium, participants engaged in interactive discussions and debates, delving into crucial policy, commercial, and technological considerations. Notably, a dedicated day was set aside for spotlighting innovation projects like 6GFlagship and Hexa-X II, that are spearheading advancements in the telecom landscape.

6G-XR at the 6G Symposium

At the 6G-XR booth, the project team held a demonstration teaser of XR capabilities. Leveraging state-of-the-art technologies, including Apple’s Vision Pro, attendees were treated to a glimpse of emerging communication technology. The XR presentation showcased 3D digital twin collaborations, cyber-physical fusion, and novel approaches to remote work, transcending traditional video conferencing with immersive spatial communications.

Feedback from participants was resoundingly positive, with many expressing astonishment at the innovative XR solutions on display. PhD researcher, Kenichi Komatsu from project partner University of Oulu remarked,
